KBC 18: The latest special celebrity episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 turned into a laughter riot when comedians Gaurav Gupta, Varun Grover and Gaurav Kapoor joined Amitabh Bachchan on the hot seat. From recalling their hilarious attempts to get through to KBC years ago to turning the tables on Big B with a game of ‘Kaun Banega Baniya’, the trio kept the atmosphere light and entertaining.

And then came the moment fans would definitely enjoy—the legendary ‘Sooryavansham kheer’ made its way into the conversation!

The trio also displayed impressive quiz skills, reaching the ₹12.5 lakh question and winning the amount before their celebrity-game time ran out.

Varun Grover Reveals His Old KBC Connection

Varun Grover took a trip down memory lane and revealed that his KBC journey actually began long before he ever appeared on the show.

He recalled that in 2000, while he was in college, he would call KBC from a PCO every day, hoping that his number would be selected to play the game.

Varun jokingly said that the PCO operator may have thought he was going through a breakup because he would repeatedly make calls, plead for another chance and return disappointed.

Years later, the man who once struggled to get through to KBC was sitting right in front of Amitabh Bachchan on the hot seat.

Gaurav Kapoor’s ₹6 Call Story Will Make You Laugh

Gaurav Kapoor had his own hilarious KBC memory.

He recalled that calling KBC during those days cost around ₹6 per call. His complaint? If you were paying ₹6, the person on the other end should at least speak a little faster!

According to Gaurav, the conversation would sometimes go on so slowly that the cost of a single call would reach ₹12.

His deadpan delivery turned the old KBC memory into another comic highlight of the episode.

‘Sooryavansham Kheer’ Becomes the Star of the Dinner Conversation

The most entertaining exchange came when the conversation shifted towards Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic film ‘Sooryavansham’ and its famous kheer scene.

The trio had already impressed everyone by answering all 10 questions correctly in the Super Sandooq round within 90 seconds, winning ₹1 lakh. Amitabh Bachchan had promised that if they managed to answer all the questions correctly, he would invite them home for dinner.

Naturally, the dinner invitation opened the door for some serious teasing.

Gaurav Gupta jokingly asked Big B whether kheer would also be served if he invited them home.

Gaurav Kapoor immediately added fuel to the joke, recalling that ever since he watched Sooryavansham, whenever kheer is prepared at his home, the person who makes it has to taste it first.

Amitabh Bachchan Turns Contestant in ‘Kaun Banega Baniya’

Gaurav Gupta then decided that it was time for Amitabh Bachchan to sit on the other side of the quiz.

He launched his own hilarious version of a quiz show called ‘Kaun Banega Baniya’ and asked Big B to guess the prices of everyday household essentials such as potatoes, tomatoes, mustard oil and different types of pulses.

Amitabh Bachchan gave his estimates, while Gaurav kept teasing him over his answers.

The fun continued when the trio asked Amitabh to deliver the iconic Sholay dialogue, “Tumhara naam kya hai, Basanti?”

Big B also shared memories from the shooting of the legendary film, making the segment even more entertaining.

Despite all the jokes and laughter, Gaurav Gupta, Varun Grover and Gaurav Kapoor remained focused when it came to the actual quiz.

They reached the ₹12.5 lakh question, which asked:

‘Looty’ was what type of animal that was found after the looting of the Summer Palace near Beijing and was later presented to Queen Victoria?

The options were:

(A) Rabbit

(B) Cat

(C) Panda

(D) Dog

The trio used the Sanket Suchak lifeline and selected the correct answer: (D) Dog.

Who Was ‘Looty’?

The ₹12.5 lakh question was based on a fascinating historical story.

Looty was a Pekingese dog taken during the Second Opium War in 1860 from the Old Summer Palace near Beijing. The dog was acquired by British Captain John Hart Dunne and was eventually presented to Queen Victoria.

Queen Victoria reportedly named the dog ‘Looty’, a name associated with the looting of the palace.

Several Pekingese dogs were reportedly taken from the Old Summer Palace after British and French forces looted and destroyed it in October 1860. Looty later became associated with the royal household and is also linked to the introduction of the Pekingese breed in Britain.

Time Ran Out, But the Entertainment Didn’t

The trio still had two lifelines left after answering the ₹12.5 lakh question, but their time eventually ran out. Since this was a special celebrity episode, their game did not continue into the next episode.
