During Bigg Boss 20’s Weekend Ka Vaar, the superstar lashed out at people who body-shame celebrities over their weight, looks and age. Without naming Katrina Kaif, Salman spoke about women being targeted after pregnancy—remarks that are being linked to the recent trolling faced by Katrina. He also mentioned Sohail Khan and Varun Dhawan’s trolling before taking off his own T-shirt on stage to answer those calling him ‘old’.

Mumbai. Social media has become a powerful platform for celebrities, creators and influencers, but it has also turned into a space where people are routinely attacked over their appearance, weight and personal lives.

And Salman Khan is clearly not impressed.

On the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 20, Salman opened up about the ugly side of social media trolling and questioned why people feel entitled to comment on someone else's body, age, family or private life.

While Salman did not name Katrina Kaif, his comments about women being body-shamed after becoming mothers immediately drew attention, especially in the backdrop of the recent trolling surrounding Katrina.

Salman’s Big Question: ‘Who Are You to Write Filth About Someone’s Body?’

Talking about the growing social media economy, Salman acknowledged that gaming, content creation, video editing and other digital professions have created jobs and opportunities for millions.

But he also pointed out the darker side of the digital world—trolling.

Salman questioned why anyone should have to insult another person simply to make money or generate views.

According to him, the very celebrity being abused or mocked often becomes the reason behind the troll’s content, engagement and earnings.

He pointed out how people casually write things about someone’s body, weight, looks, family, smile, career failures and even their decision to become a parent.

Comments such as ‘she has become fat’, ‘she looks bad’ or ‘he has become old’ have become routine on social media.

Salman questioned the mindset behind such comments and asked why people feel the need to pull down someone they may not even have met in real life.

Katrina Kaif’s Trolling Comes Into Focus

Salman’s comments about women and pregnancy became one of the biggest talking points of the episode.

He said that when a woman becomes a mother, gaining weight and experiencing changes in her body during pregnancy is completely natural.

So why should anyone troll her for those changes?

Salman further explained that when the woman returns to work, she can decide whether and when she wants to focus on her fitness.

How much time she wants to spend with her family, when she wants to return to work and what she wants to do with her body are ultimately her personal decisions.

Salman did not mention Katrina by name, but his remarks are being linked to the recent online trolling faced by Katrina after pregnancy.

‘When You Are Troubled by Your Own Face, Why Look at Someone Else?’

Salman also questioned the psychology behind online trolling.

He asked why someone who is uncomfortable with their own appearance or body feels the need to attack another person’s looks.

His point was simple: a social media user has no idea what the person on the other side of the screen may actually be going through.

A celebrity may appear happy and confident in public, but that does not mean people know everything about their personal circumstances.

Salman also brought families into the conversation.

He reminded trolls that they too have mothers, fathers, sisters, wives, girlfriends, daughters and brothers.

The question, according to Salman, is simple—how would they react if the same kind of comments were directed at someone from their own family?

Salman made it clear that trolling is not limited to women or one particular celebrity.

He brought up the example of his brother Sohail Khan, who recently faced online trolling after losing significant weight.

Instead of appreciating the change, social media users began commenting on his thinner face and loose-fitting clothes.

Salman also mentioned Varun Dhawan, whose smile became a subject of memes and trolling after the trailer of Border 2 was released.

For Salman, these incidents highlight how quickly social media can turn someone’s appearance into entertainment.

His message was that people can criticise an actor’s work, but attacking their body or appearance is a different matter.

‘I’ve Been Told I’ve Become Old Too’

Salman then turned the conversation towards himself.

The actor said that he too is regularly trolled online and is often told that he has become old.

His response?

‘Old? Of course, I’m 60 years old.’

But Salman did not stop at words.

He took off his cap, removed his jacket and then took off his T-shirt right there on the Weekend Ka Vaar stage.

He even removed his microphone before standing in front of the cameras and showing off his physique.

‘If You Don’t Like the Movie, Don’t Watch It’

Salman also addressed a particular attitude among some fans who believe that buying a movie ticket gives them the right to abuse an actor.

He said that if someone does not like a film, they simply do not have to watch it.

He pointed out that buying a ticket means buying a ticket to watch the film—not buying the actor.

At the same time, Salman said actors make every effort to entertain audiences and respect their fans.

But that respect, according to him, should not become an excuse for personal abuse.

The actor also raised concerns about the way women are photographed by paparazzi.

Salman then recalled an incident from around eight to ten years ago.

According to him, a person had been repeatedly posting extremely offensive comments about him online.

With the help of the cyber cell, the person was identified and his address was traced.

Salman said he eventually went to the person’s home.

The person’s parents were educated and other family members were also there.

Salman told the man that if he wanted, his identity and information about his family could also be made public.

The man eventually apologised.

Salman used the incident to underline that online trolling is not always as anonymous as people believe it to be.

‘Criticise My Work, But Why Abuse Me?’

Salman said there is nothing wrong with criticism.

If someone does not like an actor’s performance, they can say that they did not like the performance.

If someone does not like a film, they can say the film was not good.

Even a minister’s work can be questioned.

But, according to Salman, none of that requires abusing or humiliating someone personally.

He also spoke about his own experience of being trolled over his hair, appearance and different film looks.

Salman said he tries to turn both praise and criticism into motivation.

If people praise him, he tries to do better. If they criticise him, he tries to prove them wrong.

However, he acknowledged that everyone does not respond to trolling in the same way.

Constant abuse, lies and humiliation can affect people deeply.

Salman Says Celebrities Don’t Have to Comment on Politics

During the same conversation, Salman also spoke about celebrities being repeatedly asked to comment on political issues.

He said many people from the film industry simply do not want to give their opinions on political matters—and that is their personal choice.

According to Salman, celebrities should not be forced into commenting on political developments simply because journalists or social media platforms want a reaction.

He questioned why actors should become part of a political discussion just so their comments can later be used for television ratings or social media engagement.

His position was that journalists should investigate the truth and bring information to audiences rather than expecting every celebrity to provide a political opinion.

The chest-pain act was actually meant to teach contestant Kazi Tauqeer a lesson after he had pretended to be unwell as part of a game.
