Vibe Movie Review: When the Vibe Goes Missing

There are films that are so bad you have a great time making fun of them. Then there are films that keep promising they are about to become fun… and keep disappointing you instead. Vibe unfortunately belongs to the second category.

Starring Kunal Kemmu, Sparsh Shrivastava, Preity Zinta, Vanshika Dhir, Yashpal Sharma and Dinesh Lal Yadav, the film clearly wants to be a full-on entertainer. It throws comedy, action, drama, twists and larger-than-life moments into the mix. The problem? The ingredients are there, but the recipe never quite comes together.

The Story

At the centre of the madness are Hardik Sharma, played by Kunal Kemmu, and Bhagirath aka Bugs, played by Sparsh Shrivastava. What begins with an easy-going, comic energy gradually takes the characters into a much bigger and more complicated situation.

And this is where the film starts losing its grip.

Instead of allowing the characters and comedy to breathe, the screenplay keeps adding more layers, more action and more twists. What initially feels like a breezy entertainer slowly starts behaving like it has three different films fighting for space inside it.

The result is less “What happens next?” and more “Okay… where is this going?”

Acting

Kunal Kemmu is easily one of the better things in the film. He brings his natural comic timing and an effortless screen presence, especially when the material allows him to simply react rather than overplay the situation.

Sparsh Shrivastava gets some enjoyable moments as Bugs and brings an infectious energy to the proceedings. His chemistry with Kunal works in patches.

Preity Zinta adds star value, while Yashpal Sharma, Dinesh Lal Yadav and Vanshika Dhir contribute to the colourful ensemble.

But the biggest problem is that the performances are often better than the scenes they are placed in.

Direction & Storytelling

The film starts with the right intention—keep things entertaining and don't take yourself too seriously.

For a while, it works.

Then the screenplay gets greedy.

Comedy leads to action, action leads to twists, twists lead to more complications, and somewhere in this traffic jam, the basic entertainment gets stuck.

The first half has enough moments to keep you invested, but the film struggles badly with maintaining momentum. Instead of building the madness naturally, it keeps throwing things at the audience and hoping something sticks.

Unfortunately, not everything does.

Technical Aspects & Music

Technically, Vibe looks like a film that wants to be bigger and louder than its story actually is. The action and production design add scale, but style alone cannot compensate for an uneven screenplay.

The background score does its job, but the music doesn't leave the kind of impact you'd expect from a film aiming for a full-on commercial entertainer.

What's Good?

The Kunal Kemmu–Sparsh Shrivastava combination, some genuinely funny moments in the beginning and the film's willingness to embrace madness.

There are flashes of the entertaining film Vibe could have been.

What's Not?

Pretty much everything that happens after the film decides it needs to be bigger.

The screenplay becomes unnecessarily complicated, the comedy loses consistency and the twists don't always feel rewarding. The film keeps changing gears without ever finding a comfortable cruising speed.

Final Verdict

Vibe has the cast, the attitude and flashes of fun—but the film keeps adding masala until the original flavour gets completely lost.

Kunal Kemmu and Sparsh Shrivastava try their best to keep the party alive, but the screenplay simply doesn't give them enough ammunition.

Verdict: Watchable in patches, forgettable as a whole.
