Hrithik Roshan has grabbed attention after liking a post that strongly defended Katrina Kaif against the trolls.

The post spoke about Katrina's journey and criticised people who believe that gaining weight after pregnancy can somehow signal the end of an actress's career.

Hrithik and Katrina have previously worked together in films such as Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Bang Bang. His reaction has therefore been widely noticed by fans, although the actor himself has not issued a separate detailed statement on the controversy.

Priyanka Chaturvedi says women owe nobody an explanation

Politician Priyanka Chaturvedi also came out in support of Katrina and used the controversy to make a larger point about body-shaming.

She stressed that women should not feel compelled to explain changes in their weight, age, appearance, skin or body to people who have nothing better to do than comment on them.

Her message went beyond Katrina, highlighting how easily women become targets of public scrutiny simply because their bodies change with time and life experiences.

Khushboo Sundar questions society's double standards

Actress and politician Khushboo Sundar also defended Katrina in a detailed social media post.

She questioned why society constantly evaluates women on the basis of whether they are still in their "prime", whether they have maintained themselves or whether they look different as they grow older.

She pointed out the starkly different standards applied to men. A man with grey hair may be described as mature or charismatic, while a woman's ageing or weight gain can instantly become a subject of ridicule.

Khushboo also highlighted the enormous physical, hormonal, emotional and mental changes that accompany motherhood.

According to her, instead of celebrating what a woman has experienced while bringing another life into the world, society often focuses on how she looks afterwards.

She also referred to her own experiences with body-shaming and explained how women can be criticised regardless of whether they gain or lose weight.

Khushboo's message to Katrina: You don't owe anyone an explanation

Khushboo made it clear that Katrina should not feel the need to justify her body, her decision to become a mother or the way she looks after pregnancy.

The message was simple: Katrina has lived her life on her own terms and does not need anyone's approval for how her body looks today.

Katrina has so far chosen not to publicly respond to the trolling. Her recent appearance simply triggered another round of online commentary about her post-pregnancy body.
